Now enrolling: A workshop for teachers!

IMG_5939 2

Join us for a weekend of embodied experience in skillful hip opening and of the unifying role of the psoas. Explore the ‘muscle of the soul’ and its environs, and learn techniques to release and strengthen this deep core muscle while stabilizing the SI joints and lumbar spine. Connecting with and learning to balance this core muscle can not only bring profound healing, but can also provide a powerful and grounding sense of embodiment at the deepest dimension of self. With this sense of embodiment as our guide, we will spend time in reflective discussion and experiential discovery of yoga history, philosophy, and meditation.

For both workshop days: $285
For one workshop day: $150

Saturday November 18
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Amanda McMaine, MS, E-RYT-500 YACEP, Lead Trainer
Description: What holds us back and how can we learn to recognize (through both proprioception and interoception) when our body is in a safe pose? What is the role of the psoas in stability and ease of movement? Discuss postural deviations and patterns of dysfunction. Learn how to recognize these patterns, and how to help guide ourselves and others toward balance. Understand the role of the iliopsoas in releasing deep holding, as we practice yoga poses that bring awareness to our own movement patterns and those of our students.

Sunday November 19
9:00 a.m. to 10:30am

Poses for Balance and Core Integrity: Refining our personal practice routine
Cara Sparkman, RYT500
Description: How do we refine our personal practice routine to include poses that strengthen and free the fluid inner body? Practice poses and breath work that bring awareness, integrity and balance to the deep core of the body in a safe and supportive yoga community of practice.

11:00am – 5:00pm

Sutras, Sastras and Self-Knowledge: A Meditative Inquiry
